The Government of the state of Aragua deployed a contingent of more than 150 workers, heavy machinery and tankers in collaboration with local authorities to deal with flooding and sediment removal in various municipalities of the entity, after the passage of Tropical Wave No. 55 this Wednesday, October 7.
The information was provided by the entity's Secretary General of Public Services, Rodolfo Ramírez, who traveled to the area to monitor contingency work first-hand.
He specified that public service crews and prevention agencies prioritized attention on the main avenue of the La Arboleda sector, in the city of Maracay, affected by the overflow of the Andrés Bello channel.
“We are here on instructions from our governor, carrying out joint and immediate action,” he said.
Ramírez confirmed that traffic and vehicle traffic on the main street of La Arboleda were successfully restored and stressed that there were no reported victims or human losses to regret after the rains.
He also called on the Aragüeña community to remain calm and quiet. “The General Staff for Adverse Events, Civil Protection, security agencies and the public service team are constantly monitoring and deployed in the different municipalities to mitigate risks,” he emphasized.
In parallel, risk management teams carried out work to clear and remove debris on the road to Choroní, specifically at kilometer 7, where there were landslides that hindered passage.
In the same way, emergencies caused by increased water flow were addressed in the El Milagro sector, located in the Mario Briceño Iragorry municipality.
As part of the Risk Mitigation Plan, heavy machinery, including long-arm jumbos, is being moved to the La Curía dam in the municipality of Bolívar (San Mateo), while preventive work is being coordinated in Mario Briceño Iragorry (El Limón), to maintain constant monitoring in the channels and vulnerable areas of the entity.
