Government of Cuba mourns the death of Hugo de los Reyes Chávez

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, sent condolences to the family and friends of Hugo de los Reyes Chávez, the father of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, who physically left this Tuesday at 91 years of age.
The Cuban president, from his account in X, after hearing the news of the death, said: “It hurts us to learn that Hugo de los Reyes Chávez, father of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, has died in Venezuela. He founded an exemplary family, dedicated to the integration and sovereignty of Our America. We share our condolences with their family and friends.”
On the same social network, Bruno Rodríguez Parrill a, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, emphasized that his humility and dedication provided Latin America and the Caribbean with a family dedicated to the cause of the peoples.
Hugo de los Reyes Chávez was born on January 6 in 1933 in Barinas, where he was governor for three consecutive terms between 1998 and 2008. He was also a member and founder of the Fifth Republic Movement.
