This Thursday, February 26, the Government of Yaracuy, began the “Pick Forward to Dengue” Campaign, in the “Ezequiel Zamora” community of Chivacoa, in the municipality of Bruzual, where houses in the sector were fumigated and water storage containers were disposed of.
The general secretary of the governor of the entity, Lenyis Martínez, explained that the plan seeks to keep the control of vector-borne diseases at bay in the 14 municipalities of the entity.
“We are going to the most vulnerable communities in the 14 municipalities, with comprehensive action and the participation of the different levels of government and organized people, to ensure that dengue fever does not reach our homes,” he said.
For his part, the general director of the Bruzual Mayor's Office, Sirio Sequera, stressed that the initiative has the support of trucks, motorcycles and environmental sanitation personnel from the city council to ensure the effectiveness of the operation throughout the municipal territory.
The Single Health Authority in Yaracuy, Marilyn Velásquez, urged families to keep water containers covered and to turn over any container that could accumulate rainwater.
The authorities confirmed that the plan will be maintained over time, joining forces with educational structures and organized popular power to guarantee the well-being and health of the Yaracuyan population.
In his speech, the head of the “Ezequiel Zamora” community, Zidein Suárez, reported that 496 families benefit from the massive working day in his sector alone.
He noted that, in total, the initial approach in this community will impact 1,334 citizens, before being progressively extended to other areas of Chivacoa and the rest of the state.
“The neighbors are actively joining this plan, sanitizing green areas, our homes and public spaces, to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and thus prevent the spread of dengue fever in our community,” he said.
