The
governor of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán, accompanied by the director of the Instituto
Autonomo Hospital Universitario de los Andes (IAHULA), Nellys
Molina, inspected two important works that are being carried out in this healthcare center.
In
this regard, he reviewed the installation work of the new air
conditioning system, which will guarantee the air conditioning of 14 operating rooms that
are out of operation due to lack of air.
The
president explained that there are four new units, of 20 tons each,
to incorporate 80 tons of air into all the operating rooms: “We decided to buy
a new system, because the old one had already completed its useful life and it was not cost-effective to repair it.”
This air conditioner
system had been in operation for almost 50 years, and this is the
first time since the founding of the hospital that it has been changed. It is expected
that it may have a lifespan of more than 15 years.
The
second inspection was carried out to adapt the space where the linear accelerator will be
installed in the Oncology Unit. “Civil engineering
work will be done there so that the bunker has the conditions
needed by this equipment, with which radiation therapy will be carried out for
cancer patients not only in Mérida, but in seven other states in the west of the country,” the Government explained.
In addition, this area was heated with air conditioning equipment, a power plant system was installed, the electrical system was changed, and luminaires were replaced and installed, the Inter areas were painted and other spaces were improved.
