Governor of Mérida announced constant monitoring in the state after an earthquake in Colombia

The governor of the state of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, reported this Monday that civil protection officials, firefighters and various security bodies of the entity remain deployed in the 23 municipalities of the region after the strong earthquake recorded in the morning hours in the Chocó department of Colombia, which was felt in the border regions of Venezuela.
In a message published on his Telegram channel, Sánchez stressed that, after the various evaluations carried out, no structural damage or human loss has been reported in the region.
He stressed that officials will remain active for 24 hours, to monitor possible aftershocks, given the constant seismic activity in the region.
For his part, the general coordinator and director of Mérida Civil Protection, Luis Lobo Sivoli, reported that the Andean entity is in complete normality. “The entire infrastructure and road network are completely normal,” he said.
Finally, he urged citizens to remain calm and trust the work done by security teams. In addition, he called to be attentive to official information and to report any news through emergency lines.
