In the G/J
José Antonio Páez Fair Park, Apure state, the Alma Llanera festivities began with
the Gran Joropazo, an event that brought together more than 250 joropo dancers, distributed in more than 15
groups, in homage to this musical genre as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The
participants competed for first place, being evaluated in zapateo,
planimetry and choreography, thus celebrating the cultural richness of the region and the
validity of the joropo among the Llanera community, according to a note from Venezolana de Televisión.
In
this regard, the organizer of the event, Carlos Aparicio, stressed the importance
of these festivities. “We are kicking off this mega-party, a party
that identifies us with the Alma Llanera,” he said.
The dancers also shared
their passion for tradition, highlighting that the joropo is a musical
and dance expression that all Llaneros carry in their hearts and they always
strive to defend it and keep it high.
