In a joint effort to vindicate ancestral knowledge and national identity, the Great Mission Viva Venezuela Mi Patria Querida, through the Artisan Heart Movement and the Red Art Foundation, began the first seminar towards the construction of the Diploma in Artisanal Wristwear.

The event that took place in the spaces of the Samuel Robinson National Experimental University of Teaching (UNEM), in Caracas, brought together artisans, researchers and institutional representatives linked to the cultural area, according to the Ministry for Culture.

During the day, the inter-institutional coordinator of the UNEM, José Miguel García, explained that the initiative seeks to make the university work as a space to transmit the knowledge of master craftsmen to new generations.

“Craftsmanship has become the construction of learning for all of us who have the joy of channeling our knowledge in the area,” he said.

In addition, specialists and cultivators participated in presentations on artisanal wristwear in Venezuela and its cultural value. Among them, the anthropologist Maury Abraham Márquez, who presented a “cartography of artisanal doll making”, and artisans such as Karina Rivas and Janeth Funes, who shared their experiences and the meaning of this profession in the cultural tradition.

The seminar concluded with an invitation to interested artisans to participate in the next stages of the diploma course, whose construction process will continue with new training sessions and spaces for exchange between creators and specialists.
