In a statement, the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations (UN) expressed its condemnation and rejection of Israel's atrocious premeditated attack on Lebanon on September 27, 2024, in which hundreds of people were killed, including Seyyed Hasan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as General Abbas Nilforoushan, a high-ranking Iranian official, leaving hundreds injured, including children.

In addition, in the text shared by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, on his Telegram channel, the members of the Group emphasized that this atrocious act constitutes a “flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, the fundamental principles and norms of international law, international humanitarian law and international human rights law”.

At the same time, they also expressed concern about the continued attempts of the Zionist State of Israel to “ignite and explode the Middle East region, as demonstrated (...) because of threats of use and use of force by Israel against other countries in the region”.

In this way, they reaffirmed their solidarity “with the People and Government of both the Lebanese Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran, a member and founding member of our group, and also expresses their condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and we hope for the speedy and full recovery of all those who were injured in this atrocious attack”.
