Venezuelan fencing adds a new high-level space after the reopening of the Jesús “Chuchú” Gruber gymnasium, in Bolívar state, which will now function as the headquarters of the Rubén Limardo Foundation.

The event coincided with the start of the Elite Fencing Open, which began with the tests in the cadet category and marks a milestone in the recovery of sports infrastructure in the region, Venezuelan Television reports.

During the inauguration, Limardo thanked the institutional support received for the recovery of the venue and stressed that the facility will be open to all athletes in the country. “It will function as a strategic center for national teams,” he said.

The athlete stressed that this project also represents the fulfillment of a family promise, remembering that recovering from the gym was a dream driven by his mother. “His legacy led us to turn this space into the headquarters of the foundation,” he said.

The venue was equipped to house high-competition camps, with combat tracks, dormitories with capacity for 24 athletes and comprehensive logistical support for delegations.

At the close of the day, Limardo sent a message to the young participants, highlighting the value of sport as a tool for discipline and superclassification, as part of the qualifier for the 2026 Youth National Games.
