As part of plans to optimize public services in the region, the governor of the state of Guayana Esequiba, Neil Villamizar, led a direct inspection of the rehabilitation work being carried out at the Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Hospital, in the administrative capital of the entity.

During the tour of the health center, the regional president highlighted the strategic importance of this infrastructure, describing it as the main health care center for communities in the territory.

“This is a type 1 hospital that serves the entire area and area of influence of our Guiana Essequiba. It serves our population on the axis of San Martín de Turumbang, axis of Bochinche, and on the southern axis towards El Dorado and Las Claritas,” Villamizar explained.

Infrastructure priority:

The governor assured that in this first phase, efforts are focused on structural roof recovery and asphalt protection, one of the most critical areas of the healthcare center. The tasks include the repair and complete replacement of the waterproofing system.

“We are intervening, starting with the roof, since the waterproofing deserves to be changed. The objective is to protect all areas of the hospital, as well as its equipment, and, of course, our people: our patients, doctors, nurses and all the staff who work here,” emphasized the highest regional authority.

Commitment to the Essequiban people.

Villamizar reiterated that these inspections are part of a continuous deployment to ensure that the works are executed efficiently and meet the quality standards required for the well-being of the population.

“We are still working here: today inspecting, tomorrow working and making the structural changes that need to be made to improve the quality of life of our Essequibano people,” concluded the governor.

It is expected that after the completion of this first phase of waterproofing, new stages of internal remodeling and provision of supplies will be progressively activated to strengthen the public health network in the administrative capital.
