Head of State announces plan to reactivate PDVAL and Mercal points across the country

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, announced a strategic plan for the total reactivation of the Venezuelan Food Producer and Distributor (PDVAL) and Food Market (MERCAL) market network on a national scale.
At the National Congress of Chefs and Chefs of the Homeland, he explained that the plan projects that by the year 2026, 100% of these centers will operate under a social economy scheme and communal circuits, guaranteeing access to products at fair prices and encouraging domestic production.
The strategy involves the delivery of these distribution centers to organized communities and to workers in public institutions to be managed as social enterprises.
The Executive will provide these new ventures with “basic seed capital to start operations, ensuring the flourishing of the social economy”.The Head of State stressed that the 416 existing PDVAL and MERCAL points must be recovered. “Of the 416 that we have, in December we will reach 88, 20%, and in the year 2026 we will recover 100% of the PDVAL and MERCAL together with the communities, community circuits and the workers of the Ministry of Education so that they can have their supply there.”
