The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called for national preparation for the consequences that climate change may generate, at the same time he criticized “denial currents” in Europe and the United States.
In his weekly program With Maduro+, edition number 85, he highlighted the urgent need to prepare the nation for extreme weather events and emphasized the importance of a global response to the climate emergency.
In a statement where he addressed various issues of national and international interest, the President emphasized the increasing frequency of “unforeseen, alluvial and untimely rains that fall, flood and change the topography”, as a clear manifestation of climate change.
He also emphasized that “climate change arrived and world powers made fun of international law”, calling for immediate action to face this reality. “We have to fight against climate change in the best way,” said the President, urging preparation and adaptation to the challenges presented by global warming.
