The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, this Saturday congratulated the world's Muslims on the start of Ramadan, which is celebrated in commemoration of the first revelation of Mohammed.

“On this evening of March 1st, the day that Ramadan begins. Since sunset in Caracas, starting at night, two moments, a single day,” wrote the Head of State on his social networks, a message that accompanied with two images of the sunset.

The Venezuelan dignitary also sent blessings to the Muslim people. “The peoples of God are united for the human cause. What a happy evening, what a happy day! Greetings... as-Salamu alaikum,” he said.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, respected by Muslims as the month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. Each year the month in which Ramadan is celebrated changes around the lunar month.
