A total of 3,000 fruit and medicinal plants were delivered this Monday to the community of Macarao to begin the environmental and productive recovery of the newly named Chuquisaca hill. The endowment, received by neighbors with an agricultural vocation, represents the first step in the territorial execution of the National Sowing Plan 2026 in this area of the capital.
After a tour carried out by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, through the El Volcán and La Guacamaya sectors, the mountain was renamed “Chuquisaca”.
The sector vice-president for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, who accompanied the activity, reported that the shipment includes varieties of cacao, avocado, papaya and meringue, as well as a wide catalog of medicinal species. “We arrived with these 3,000 plants to start this national program. Those who sow do so out of an act of faith, and today we do it together with this community that is committed to turning Chuquisaca into a permanent plant,” said the Minister of Science and Technology.
The objective of this endowment is for families in the area to start a strategic plantation to protect the mountain's natural resources. Jiménez explained that this action promotes the protection of aquifers and native species, as well as the rescue of natural medicine and the promotion of biodiversity.
The national president urged family groups in the sector to be the protagonists of the day. “Every family must come to plant their tree, whether fruit or medicinal. It is essential to rescue the knowledge and use of our plants,” he said.
To complement this reforestation project, it was announced that the plant supply will be reinforced with the delivery of 20 pregnant cows from the Apure state.
