The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, this Wednesday, February 21, praised the achievements made with regard to food production in Venezuela, which currently supplies 97% of the products and the various agricultural items consumed by the Venezuelan people.
“We have gone from 85% of dependence on food imports, to a truly masterful point, since in Venezuela we are producing 97% of the food that the Venezuelan people take home daily,” he said.
He added that “it's very easy to say, but how much work it cost”, while noting that “we succeeded because we had a plan and the Great Agro Venezuela Mission and we also managed to unite all Venezuelans who believe in their homeland to produce.”
In this regard, he specified that Venezuela has 14 quarters of continuous growth in agricultural production.
The approach was made in the state of Apure, during a working day dedicated to domestic production, where he recalled that in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, sanctions and the economic blockade of the United States against the country, the Bolivarian Government proposed and succeeded in carrying out a reengineering for a relaunch of the Great Agro Venezuela Mission, founded by Commander Hugo Chávez.
He commented that a great debate took place and the new vertices of this mission were agreed upon, as a guide to achieving the country's productive recovery, “with work, with our own effort (...) we rode 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and we went up the hill”.
