During an activity with community members, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the National University of the Communes should focus on training professionals who respond to the needs of the country's communities.
“The dream map of all communes and communal circuits needs engineers,” he said, while stressing that it is essential for the university to train these professionals to contribute to local development.
The National President also emphasized the importance of recognizing construction masters and our people for their empirical knowledge, their knowledge and granting them their degree as engineer of the Republic.
In addition, he highlighted the need to train economists who promote “the local economy, the productive economy” of communities.
In this regard, he instructed the rector of the National University for the Communes, Jorge Arreaza, to recognize high school or technical studies and to provide the knowledge and instructions required by these men and women who have empirical knowledge.
For his part, Arreaza explained that “the university must link the student to their productive environment, their housing environment, to the projects of the Concrete Agenda for Action”.
President Maduro also recalled that on May 31, the university campus of the National University for the Communes will be inaugurated, “in style”, and stressed that it will be “the most beautiful university campus that has ever opened in Venezuela, after the university campus of the Central University of Venezuela, from the time of Pérez Jiménez.”
The President continued to raise the importance of training architects, political scientists, agronomists, veterinarians, and other careers.
“How many veterinarians do we need for the country's 5 338 communes,” he questioned and reiterated his commitment to inclusive and practical education.
In his speech, he stressed that “applied knowledge, applied science must focus on turning our leaders and our people into scientific people, into scientific leaders”, and added that this is the “true scientific socialism of the twenty-first century”, where education becomes a fundamental pillar for the country's development.
