The Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, denounced recent opposition demonstrations led by figures such as Julio Borges.
Regarding the statements made by Borges in recent days to the effect that 70% of Venezuelans support sanctions imposed by foreign powers and are willing to make sacrifices against them. President Maduro indicated that “he has tired of conspiring against Venezuela. Back in his mansion in Spain, he continues to lobby to harm our nation. Our people know the truth.”
He stressed that “it is very regrettable that the opposition has characters as vile, as low, as vulgar, as criminal and corrupt as Julio Borges”.
The Head of State also urged Borges to return to Venezuela and
confront the people. “If you are so courageous, come to Venezuela,
I'll wait for you here. For the Venezuelan people to do justice. Give your face
to the people of Venezuela so you can see.”
In that vein, he stated that “in Venezuela, the people are the ones who decide their future. We will not allow hate and fascism to divide us. Here we are still fighting for the sovereignty, peace and development of our country.”
