The president of
the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, criticized this Monday the
kidnapping of a 2-year-old Venezuelan girl by the
immigration authorities of the United States (USA), who snatched her from the arms of her mother who was deported.
During the
77th edition of his Con Maduro+ program, the Head of State emphasized that “taking
a 2-year-old girl from a migrant mother just because she is a migrant and is Venezuelan
and accusing her without proof that she is a member of a criminal gang and using it as an
excuse to steal her child is a crime under any international law.”
In this regard,
he pointed out that “if there were justice in this world, the people who did it should
be imprisoned. Without a doubt. But neither the Criminal Court nor the International Court of
Justice do anything for justice,” he criticized, adding that “if there were justice in the United States, any judge would rescue that girl, he would arrest whoever
snatched her from her mother's arms on the plane that was going to return her to
Venezuela and return her immediately.”
The Dignitary
stated that “the United Nations System collapsed in the face of the
massive violation of human rights against migrants in the United States (...) it collapsed as the League of Nations
collapsed in its time, at the time of the
rise of Hitler, Mussolini, Franco. Now what you see is a collapse of that
system.”
