Head of State: Pope Francis' defense of the people of Venezuela will be written in history

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in his program With Maduro Live Suddenly”, recalled Pope Francis' legacy of humility in defense of the most vulnerable and needy on the planet from the head of the Catholic Church.

“It is up to the Catholic Church, the cardinals to make the best decision as to whether this institution continues to rescue the original legacy of Christ in terms of its austerity, love and courageous commitment even beyond death to the poor, the oppressed, to peoples who struggle or go back,” said the Head of State.

He also stressed that it will be written in history that Pope Francis was one of the first world leaders to come out to question the blockade and the measures of sanctions against the people of Venezuela.

“Pope Francis was the first to question the wars, the massacre of the Palestinian people and, in addition, he spoke out against the blockade and the sanctions against the Venezuelan people. In the Pope's legacy, it will be written that he defended Venezuela against the aggression of the American empire,” he stressed.
