During the Maduro+ program, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, described the historic event of the rescue of Commander Hugo Chávez in April 2002 as a miracle of the civic-military union that emerged before the coup d'etat to restore democracy.

“On April 13 and 14, the people came out to meet their Armed Forces and there was a popular insurrection never seen in Venezuela that allowed the rescue of democracy, constitutionality and Commander Chávez without violence,” said the national president.

He stressed that the Bolivarian Revolution has demonstrated its capacity to generate the changes that history has required at all stages and allowed the resurrection of the People in 2002 spontaneously, but with directionality.

He assured that in the events of April 2002, the unique popular-military union in the history of Venezuela was consolidated.

The popular-military insurrection that allowed the recovery of political power, the rescue of the Constitution, the Republic, democracy, and the safe rescue of Commander Chávez (...) is a miracle that was done by the Popular Power and the Bolivarian military power.”

He added that after the coup d'etat of April 2002, the country experienced great changes, with the establishment of the Missions and Great Missions, with which the great changes came at the hands of the nation's Popular Power.

The Communes were born, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces were refounded, the Bolivarian National Militia was founded, the civic-military fusion was built, progress was made socially and economically,” he said.
