The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that Spain vetoed three Venezuelan films because they fear the truth of the country. “Fascism has prevailed for now. Why are they censoring us? They are afraid of the truth about Venezuela,” he emphasized.
“Several films of national production were going to be presented through the Casa de las Américas in Madrid and unfortunately they were banned. Madrid, Spain, fascism has prevailed for now (...) They vetoed, censored three Venezuelan films. They are afraid of the truth about Venezuela, why is it?” , highlighted in the 74th edition of the program "With Maduro+”.
He expressed his rejection of the censorship against Ali Primera, “this is not the first time that Ali Primera has been censored and persecuted, but surely the youth of Madrid and Spain will be wondering who Ali Primera is.”
“The censorship and veto of Díaz Ayuso, Almeida and the Madrid fascists will multiply the singing of Ali Primera in Spain. I'm sure. They censored the movie The Battle of the Bridges. Which is the day they intended to invade us, that day, remember that. That day, February 23, 2019, was the day we defeated them, 23, 24, 25 (...) That film was censored so that in Spain they could not see the truth of Venezuela,” he stressed.
The head of state pointed out that they also censored a third film, when Álvaro Uribe brought 200 Colombian paramilitaries from the United Defenses of Colombia into the Hatillo in Venezuela to take action against the Miraflores Palace and attempt to assassinate President Hugo Chávez.
“They were discovered, captured, tried and at one point Commander Chávez with his big heart gave them a pardon and sent them to their families in Colombia because they were all young paramilitaries who came to assassinate him, but they were all from humble families, especially from there in Cucuta, in the north of Santander. They don't want Spain to see the truth about Venezuela,” he said.
For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, pointed out that these three very modest films irritated Spanish fascism in such a way and reinforced by a neofascist community of Venezuelan origin, they managed to remove these three films from the programming of La Casa América.
Faced with that decision, he reported that there has been an increase in the number of requests to the Venezuelan Embassy in Madrid to show Venezuelan films that were censored by the European country.
“Ambassador Gladys Gutiérrez told us a few minutes ago that they have received countless messages asking to see the films because they also wonder, what is it about those films that has made these sectors move to prevent their dissemination,” she said.
Villegas stressed that “there is nothing better for a film in terms of box office than someone who decides to censor it, so these films have marketed” the movies”.
