After threats from the United States government not to renew a temporary oil exploration license to Venezuela as part of agreements to ease sanctions against the sector, President Nicolás Maduro accused the Biden administration of wanting to impose a colonialist model.
The Head of State denounced the non-compliance with the agreements by the United States government, which also leaked to the media the scope of these bilateral talks.
“In those conversations, agreements were reached, agreements were signed and focused on the total lifting of all illegal sanctions. They never complied!” , stressed the national president during the 41st edition of the Con Maduro+ program.
In this regard, he described as colonialist the oil exploration licenses granted by the United States, which since January 2024 have been threatened with suspension by the Joe Biden government.
“License 44 is colonialist because the United States seeks to monitor, control and protect the Venezuelan oil industry so that the country depends on those licenses to survive and to be thanked, but as long as we commit to doing what they say or take away the license, as if it were a colony like 200 years ago at the time of the Guipuzkoan company,” he reiterated.
