Head of State: Venezuelan people are the first country in Latin America to elect justices of the peace

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that justice of the peace is preventive justice, since it allows matters to be resolved with speech, mediation, compliance with good norms and the law, in the community.
“Peace justice is a great step in the process of justice and internal stability, it is community, neighborhood, preventive healing,” he said.
In this regard, he specified that the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) accredited more than 28,000 justices of the peace; for the first time in history, judges are elected by the People.
“Judges and justices of the peace have legitimacy, by direct popular choice, the first country in Latin America to do so,” he stressed during the broadcast of the Digital Zone segment, in the 74th edition of the program “With Maduro+”.
He also reported that the magistrates of the Supreme Court, including Beatriz Rodríguez and Tania D'Amelio, “are pedagogically dedicated to the training of judges and justices of the peace, they have received courses, workshops and seminars since December 15, and they are already giving them their accreditation.”
He also noted that the Houses of Peace are already under construction, with the objective of consolidating this institution.
