“Oil production in the state of Zulia will close this year with 400,000 barrels a day, after recovering from a drop that placed it at 70,000 barrels,” said the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, during the Closing of the Zulia Energy, Oil and Gas Forum 2026.
The national president highlighted the progress of the industry in the region, noting that 370,000 barrels are currently produced per day. “One of the alliances of the binational company in the Petrozamora field broke production records, and that production is for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Rodríguez explained that these resources must translate into improvements for the population. “That this production can be translated into services, remuneration, health, food,” he said. He also indicated that by next year, with the expected increase, Zulia will become a producer of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), intended to guarantee the country's domestic, industrial and commercial life, as well as for export.
President Rodríguez explained that, given the situation of the electricity system, oil contracts contemplate that the companies themselves generate the electricity they need to operate in the fields (self-generation). By producing its own energy, the national grid is not overloaded and service is guaranteed for the rest of the population of Zulia and the country. In addition, he indicated that these investments for the hydrocarbons sector will amount to 76 billion dollars in five years.
