The Presidential Commission for the Restructuring and Reengineering of the National Government began this Wednesday the cycle of consultations by sector, starting with the scientific sector, at a meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of People's Power for Science and Technology (MINCYT), with the participation of scientists, technologists and specialized technical teams.

The meeting is part of the methodological approach by sector that will guide the process of institutional transformation promoted by the National Executive, aimed at building a more efficient, articulated State capable of responding to the needs of the country.

During the meeting, the president of the commission, Héctor Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of beginning the cycle of consultations with the scientific sector, stressing its strategic role in decision-making in the Venezuelan State.

In this regard, according to a press release, he called on the scientific sector to assume a leading role, adding that “historical time is not to wait. I need them to give their opinion, to work, to dialogue and to help us build consensus. I ask you to raise your voice for the good of the country, for the good of the Fatherland.”

He also highlighted that in recent years the Revolution has made a gigantic effort to place science and technology at the center of public policy.

“That space cannot recede at this time, we have to rather continue to gain space, because in addition most of the decision makers do not come from the scientific world, and that is why we need you to have a belligerent position in this dissemination,” he said.

In his speech, Rodríguez emphasized that the country's independence in the 21st century is defended by scientific, technological and productive capacity, rather than military force.

“How many mathematicians do we have? How many patriotic scientists? Independence is sustained by organization, economy, production, consciousness and technology,” he said.

He also stressed that the consultation process is not only operational, but also pedagogical, aimed at strengthening collective awareness of the role of science in building the national development model.

He also explained that the cycle of methodological approach by sector is designed to ensure that each strategic area of the country provides inputs, diagnoses and proposals based on its own experience and specificity.

In the same way, he mentioned that this process makes it possible to build a comprehensive vision of the State that is based on the active participation of institutions, organized citizenship, specialists and productive sectors.
