Héctor Rodríguez: Popular Government Chambers promote citizen participation and efficiency

The Popular and Communal Government Chambers must aim at strengthening citizen participation and efficiency in the implementation of public policies, said the Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, this Wednesday.

“We must solve the needs within a plan that transforms and that helps the people of the commune, their environment, but it must also aim to produce and be self-sustainable. Building houses, fruit spaces, parks, is about changing people's quality of life and living in community to rebuild life,” he said during a visit to the Popular Government Hall of the Onota Awakening Commune, in the Caricuao parish of Caracas.

According to a press release from the vice-presidency, Rodríguez assured that it is necessary for communal governments to learn to rethink the way they produce and improve communities depending on the needs of the people.

“We cannot continue to rely on oil as a primary source because for that, for the first time in the history of Venezuela, the people have another level of organization. Chávez united us in our diversity and we must respond to that proposal,” he added.
