The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (OSSBV) achieves its first Grammy nomination from the United States Recording Academy.

The orchestra is competing in the prestigious Best Orchestral Performance category for its impeccable performance of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, M.81, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of People's Power for Communication and Information.

This piece was recorded on January 14, 2025 in London, during a successful European tour, under the Platoon record label. This production represents the first time that the orchestra has recorded Ravel's emblematic Boléro, achieving a performance that combines the maturity of its 106 musicians with the freshness of a new generation.

The OSSBV stands out as the only non-American orchestra in its category in this edition. It shares the list with institutions of the highest caliber in the world, such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony and the National Philharmonic.

It should be noted that this is the first time that a Latin American group has reached this category of nomination in the history of the Anglo-Saxon awards.
