The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, in his Con El Mazo Dando program, on his 535 broadcast, congratulated the national softball team that was accredited for the recent world championship held in Canada, where he beat the New Zealand squad with a score of 3-0 in the final match.

“Venezuela was champion in the Softball world and some sectors don't say anything about this sporting feat, but being a world champion means being the best in the world in that specialty at the time, in other words, Venezuela is the best in the world in softball,” said Cabello.

This final marked Venezuela's second participation in a World Championship final, following its previous participation in 2013. This time, they lost to New Zealand itself 4-1 and took the silver medal. This time, Venezuela raised the trophy in Prince Albert. As a country, this is the first men's Softball World Cup title.
