IAEA confirms Ukrainian attack on Zaporiyia nuclear plant (+Russia)

This Sunday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed the explosion of a drone at the nuclear plant in Zaporiyia (Russian territory after the referendum two years ago), after its authorities reported damage to a nearby truck due to a Ukrainian attack.

The detonation reported by the Russian Federation coincides with the observations of the IAEA experts, who visited the facility during the day.

In this regard, the general director of the agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi, spoke about the incident through the social network X. In his words, he called for respect for established principles in the area of nuclear safety.

The company also reported that, later, Ukrainian troops attacked the dome of unit 6 of the facility. However, no critical damages, victims, or threats of violation of security limits are reported.
