The facilities of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC) were filled with songs and prayers with the traditional Paradura del Niño, an activity that marked the beginning of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Performing and Musical Arts (IAEM).
The tradition, coming from the Venezuelan Andes, represents the end of Christmas celebrations and coincides with Candlemas Day, providing an opportunity to make requests for peace, health, family and the liberation of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The activity was attended by students from the “Armemos la Paradura” workshop, the IAEM musical ensemble, and the cultors Ricardo Linares, Jesús Paiva, Jeison Cardozo, Jesús Berenzola, José Rafael Bolívar “Mulato”, Arturo Colmenares and Hugo Barroso, who starred in songs of parrandas, aguinaldos and pasooble.
In addition, the workers joined the dynamics of this demonstration: searching for the child, raising a crib, singing to the child, adoration in the manger and the parade.
The general director of IAEM, Juan Pérez, was pleased with the large participation of people and their enthusiastic attitude towards the celebration. In addition, he thanked the cultivators for their gesture in responding to the invitation to this day.
The celebration of La Paradura del Niño marks the starting point for a series of activities commemorating the 20th anniversary of IAEM, an institution that works hand in hand with the creative people to preserve the country's traditions and cultural heritage.
