In the framework of the World Day Against
Child Labor, this Friday, June 12, the National Council for the Rights of Children and
Adolescents (IDENNA), together with allied institutions, held the forum “The
protection of children and adolescents in the workplace”.
“Child labor must be eradicated. We must
promote the right to children, and what does the right to children mean?
It's the right to education, it's the right to grow up in a family, it's the
right to recreation, but above all,
to always protect our children and adolescents so that they can grow up in a
family, community, social environment, for their development,” said the
president of IDENNA Soraida Ramírez Osorio from the activity in a press release from the institution.
He also
stated that, when a boy, a girl or an adolescent takes to the streets
to work, he is a victim of exploitation, “but he can also be a victim
of trafficking, abuse, mistreatment. That is why today we speak out and raise
our voices so that there is no more child labor and so that their childhood is
justly respected.”
The
activity was attended and accompanied by the
ministries of the People's Power of the Office of the Presidency, and for
Labor; the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and
Adolescents; the National Institute for
Workers' Training and Recreation (INCRET); the National Institute for
Socialist Training and Education (INCES) and the Regional Coordination of Children and Adolescents
Workers (CORENATS).
