INAMEH confirms that the El Niño phenomenon has been active in Venezuela since June

The president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), Reidy Zambrano, confirmed that the El Niño meteorological phenomenon has been active in Venezuela since last June and detailed characteristics and preventive measures.

In statements replicated by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the official explained that starting in the month of June, an El Niño warning was presented, and since then the evolution of this natural phenomenon has been closely monitored.

“At the Institute, we study its evolution, its impact on variables, mainly temperature and rainfall. He is progressively increasing temperatures and decreasing rainfall, in a very specific way,” he explained.

The INAMEH authorities coordinated inter-institutional meetings with the different levels of government and ministries to meet the specific requirements of the population and to implement appropriate preventive measures in the face of weather disturbances.
