The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH) reported that on Sunday afternoon, May 18, the first tropical wave of the season formed off the coast of Africa.

According to weather projections, it is estimated that this wave will reach Guiana Essequiba next Saturday, May 24; it moves from east to west across the Central Tropical Atlantic Ocean, as reported by Prensa MPPRIJP.

This atmospheric phenomenon is part of the climate dynamic that marks the beginning of the cyclonic season scheduled between June 1 and November 30.

For this period, the president of INAMEH, Reidy Zambrano, previously reported that between 55 and 60 tropical waves are expected to form, of which 40 to 45 could pass through Venezuelan territory.

INAMEH continuously monitors these types of systems 24 hours a day, in order to evaluate possible changes that may have intensity and trajectory.
