The EMCI (INCES School of Media and Communication) won two awards at the third edition of the Venezuelan University Short Film Festival, held at the Cinepic room in La Candelaria, in Caracas.
The short film *La negra encadenada* won the Audience Award in the Fiction category for Film Schools and Permanent Workshops, while the institution received the award for the Best School Bar and Permanent Workshops for its outstanding presence throughout the event.
The award was presented by the festival's management to the production team, made up of its protagonist Andrés Silva, together with Johana Santander, Giordano Marquina and Ángel Sena. The direction was in charge of Gabriel Salamanca, under the production of Luis Bernal.
Behind this achievement were also EMC I teachers Adám García, Ricardo Martínez, Winder Rivero and Manuel Pérez, who trained young talents.
The president of the Villa del Cine, Vladimir Sosa, commented on La Negra Encadenada: “A short film about people who are training, about newcomers who are studying, about creators who aspire to become professional in this profession and who are already starting out in this world winning a festival award from the public means, in my opinion, that they are on the right track; what they cannot do is go astray”.
For his part, Rafael Romero, responsible for the technical part of the festival, celebrated the return of comedy to Venezuelan screens”.
The festival, which received 147 short films nominated and selected 47 in the fiction and documentary categories, was inaugurated with the participation of the Minister of Culture, Raúl Cazal, and the festival's director, Ariam Prado. At the closing ceremony, the EMCI demonstrated that audiovisual training at Inces is bearing fruit.
The invitation is open to the general public to visit the Inces YouTube channel to enjoy La Negra Encadenada and support national talent.
