The Apure State Public Health Institute (INSALUD) held a special vaccination day against yellow fever this Monday, March 9th, for workers at the companies PDVSA Gas Comunal and Batalla Mata de la Miel Gas.
The activity was carried out at the José Antonio Ramírez Filling Plant, in the state's Biruaca municipality, with the objective of protecting the health of a workforce that, due to its functions, frequently circulates in various regions of the national territory and neighboring states such as Barinas, which is among the entities affected by outbreaks of this disease.
The single health authority of the state of Apure, Óscar Rebolledo, explained that, although the entity does not report cases of yellow fever, the initiative responds to a prevention strategy.
“Apure must be protected in all areas,” said Rebolledo, stressing the importance of immunizing personnel who transit through areas of epidemiological risk.
Noel Vivas, manager and sole authority of Gas Apure, was also present during the day, who explained that during the day not only doses were applied against yellow fever, but also tetanus toxoid, thus reinforcing the immunization schedule for employees. “Vaccines save lives,” emphasized Vivas, who estimated that approximately 150 workers would receive the corresponding doses.
He reiterated that permanent vaccination points in health centers in the region remain active and available to all people in Apurea who need to update their vaccination schedule, especially given the national context of preventive campaigns.
