Iran and Belarus sign agreements to deepen strategic cooperation

The presidents of Belarus, Alexandr Lukashenko and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, signed a joint statement to deepen the development of strategic relations between the two countries.
“The statement reflects the coincidence of the positions of the parties on issues of bilateral, regional and international relations, reaffirms the course towards the gradual intensification of traditionally friendly and strategic ties between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Lukashenko's presidential press reported.
According to information detailed by Sputnik, the leaders expressed their satisfaction with the dynamic and progressive development of bilateral cooperation, highlighting the active exchange of visits at high levels in recent years, which provides stability to relations and contributes to their deepening in all areas.
Both nations also reaffirmed their “determination to develop bilateral relations” in accordance with the 'Roadmap for Comprehensive Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran for 2023-2026', signed during the Belarusian leader's visit to Iran in March 2023.
The statement stresses that cooperation is based on the principles of sovereign equality, territorial integrity, independence, non-interference in internal affairs, cooperation in good faith and mutual respect for interests.
