This Sunday, the fourth round of indirect talks began in Muscat, the capital of Oman, between representatives of Iran and the United States (USA), amid hostile rhetoric against the Islamic Republic by Washington.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who arrived in Muscat on May 11 after carrying out the necessary consultations in Tehran, heads the Iranian delegation; while the United States is represented by the White House special envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff.

The main objective of these meetings is to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and to achieve the lifting of the sanctions and the unfair economic restrictions imposed on Tehran.

This resumption of talks takes place in a context in which Washington has maintained a hostile rhetoric against the Islamic Republic, amid pressure from Israel, which has opposed any nuclear agreement and has called for attacking Iranian facilities.
