Iran denounced to the UN the illegal war between the United States and Israel against their sovereignty

During an emergency session of the UN Security Council dedicated to “Threats to international peace and security”, the permanent representative of Iran to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, denounced that Israel “decided to destroy diplomacy” by bombing Iranian territory just two days before the talks scheduled with the United States for June 15.

The Iranian representative, denounced that “the United States has resorted to exercising force illegally, by waging war against my country under the absurd and invented pretext of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.”

In addition, he stressed that the joint aggression of the United States and Israel “is a flagrant violation of the peremptory norm of prohibition of aggression and of the fundamental principles enshrined in the UN Charter.”

Iravani, as reported by Telesur, directly blamed Tel Aviv and Washington for the escalation of the war: “The attack carried out by Israel on June 13 and the bombing of the United States on June 21 are the direct product of these illegal and politically motivated actions.

He also stated that “the United States has once again recklessly chosen to sacrifice its security to protect Netanyahu”, stressing that “Iran reserves the right to respond and that the timing and magnitude of the response are determined by the armed forces.”

In addition, the head of the delegation criticized the “hollow and impotent” action of multilateral organizations after eight decades of promises to avoid war and aggression.

“It is very disheartening that a peace-loving country, one of the founders of the UN with more than 5,000 years of culture and civilization, has been the subject of armed attacks by an illegitimate regime,” he said.

“The NPT has been manipulated to be used as a political weapon, instead of guaranteeing the legitimate rights of the parties to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. We have demonstrated the eminently peaceful nature of our nuclear program,” he added.

Iravani culminated by accusing “Israel and the United States” of being “the main culprits of undermining the rule of law, of undermining international law, the statute of the IAEA and the non-proliferation regime”.

The Iranian delegation demanded unanimous condemnation from the Security Council and immediate measures to prevent further escalation in the region, demanding respect for sovereignty and an end to impunity for those who attack under the cover of force.

The extraordinary session was convened with the support of Pakistan, China and Russia, who submitted a draft resolution to condemn the aggressions, demand an immediate cessation of violence and guarantee the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program.
