The permanent ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations (UN), Said Iravani, assured that the United States (USA) is the main sponsor and promoter of terrorism in Western Asia.

In reaction to the public meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on August 8, 2024, at which the US representative made baseless allegations against Iran, the envoy of the Islamic Republic to the Organization, in a letter to the President and the Secretary General, rejected these accusations against the country.

The Iranian diplomat said that during that session held on the topic “threat to international peace and security derived from terrorist acts” the US representative, in response to the statements of the Russian representative, departed from the agenda of the session and launched “unfounded, misleading and incorrect accusations” against Iran about supporting terrorism in the region.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly rejects and condemns these baseless accusations and the irresponsible conduct of the representative of the United States,” he stressed.
