Iranian professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi criticized Western media coverage of the conflict between Iran and Israel, accusing them of justifying the Israeli offensive and of reproducing narratives that, he said, turn falsehoods into accepted truths.

During an interview, Marandi questioned the legitimacy of the statements about alleged Israeli bases on Iranian territory and denounced that the systematic nature of military actions in Gaza is omitted.

The statements come in the midst of an unprecedented escalation between the two countries, following an Israeli attack on nuclear and military installations in Iran. In response, Tehran launched a series of reprisals, according to the Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) website.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the operation as a measure to “counter the Iranian threat to Israel's own survival” and warned that military actions will continue as long as necessary.

The conflict has generated international concern for its possible regional expansion and for the impact on stability in the Middle East.
