The Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Isabel Iturria, reiterated that there are now 15,000 cataract surgeries performed in different public hospitals in the country.
In this regard, he stressed that equipment intended for catheterization care is responding to current demand, although it is still necessary to expand the installed capacity.
He explained that several teams remain stopped due to lack of spare parts, and others have been unable to operate at their peak performance due to the absence of minor components or specialized maintenance.
He stressed that, without the economic blockade, the country would have made much more progress in this area; however, he emphasized that “Venezuela has not stopped, finding alternative routes to continue strengthening the health system.”
“The Plan for Health and Life 2026 presents very significant advances, providing a direct response to prioritized needs through the 1x10 of Good Governance,” said Iturria.
He stressed that the hemodynamics plan shows extraordinary progress, since in just four months, more than 1,100 catheterizations have been performed in public hospitals in the country, a historic figure that reflects the sustained effort to strengthen cardiovascular care and save lives in Venezuela.
In the context of the yellow fever vaccination plan, more than 793,000 doses were applied in the 4 prioritized entities.
He asserted that these immunization days will be held in universities, schools, and passenger terminals with the objective of expanding vaccination points beyond healthcare centers in order to increase the immunization of the population of these 10 entities of the country.
