At least seven people died and six others were injured after a wave of some 100 Israeli attacks against several areas of southern Lebanon, in a new violation of the fragile ceasefire agreement in force since April.
According to official Lebanese media reports, the escalation included aerial bombardments, artillery attacks and drone overflights over different locations in the districts of Tyre, Sidon, Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil and Marjeyoun.
The victims include a paramedic, a woman, a former mayor and several civilians. In addition, one of the attacks in the town of Tayr Falsayh caused the death of a woman and her son, a member of the emergency services, as well as leaving five injured.
Another bombing in Al-Abbasiya killed one person, while an attack on Tibnin killed Haidar Mouassi, former mayor of Aitaroun and current member of the municipal council.
The new military escalation comes one day after the conclusion in Washington of the third round of indirect talks between Lebanon and Israel, sponsored by the United States, which resulted in a 45-day extension of the ceasefire agreement in force since April.
According to official Lebanese figures, since the start of the full-scale Israeli offensive against Lebanon, on March 2, 2026, at least 2,969 people have died, 9,112 have been injured and more than a million have been displaced.
