Japan reinforces its deployment of technical and medical equipment in Venezuela after double earthquake

The government of Japan announced this Wednesday an important reinforcement of its technical and medical teams deployed in Venezuela to cooperate directly in rescue and humanitarian assistance tasks after the double earthquake that shook the country on June 24.

According to information detailed by Europa Press, the executive of Sanae Takaichi reported in an official statement that a specialized health care contingent has been ordered to be sent, specifying that this new “medical disaster relief team” will strengthen the mitigation work already being carried out in the affected area by a first group of seven personnel since June 26.

The Asian administration explained that the transfer of specialists will take place in a phased manner over the next few days to complete a group of “42 members, including personnel from the Foreign Ministry and the International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as well as doctors, nurses and other health professionals.”

The official statement emphasized Tokyo's firm willingness to strengthen the international response, which already has more than 3,600 brigade members from 51 countries on the ground, concluding that they will maintain their support and are ready to “consider providing additional assistance as necessary, taking into account human security needs.”
