The coordinator of the National Commission for Sovereignty and Peace, Jorge Rodríguez announced the possibility of drafting a new law of coexistence to replace the legal instrument in force in the country, in connection with the recommendations made by various bodies linked to the protection and promotion of fundamental rights in the country.

He stated that there is a need to organize all regulations relating to citizen guarantees in a large Code of Human Rights (DDHH) for Venezuelans. The intention is to unify the precepts that are now dispersed in multiple laws to provide greater legal clarity to the population.

He asserted that “the issue of human rights should not be incorporated exclusively in laws of a punitive or sanctioning nature. On the contrary, the proposal seeks to elevate these principles to a higher organization that facilitates their understanding, application and comprehensive defense throughout the territory.”
