During a press conference, the president of the General Staff for the Creation of Transitional Camps, Jorge Rodríguez, described as barbaric the statements issued by Abelardo de la Espriella, elected president of Colombia, regarding the reconstruction of housing in Venezuela after recent seismic events.

When asked about a supposed “help” offered by the Colombian president, Rodríguez clarified that the elected president of Colombia did not talk about collaborating with the reconstruction; he declared that he was going to personally be in charge of the reconstruction of houses in Venezuela, he even gave orders to the Colombian Army's engineering corps to draw up a plan and start fixing things, “that's what he said verbatim.”

The president of the Legislative Branch was also emphatic in saying that “it is one thing to provide help and quite another to say barbarities”.

To illustrate the inappropriateness of such statements, Rodríguez used a diplomatic parallel: “Imagine me saying that the Venezuelan Exercise is going to enter Colombia to completely end cocaine crops.”

The official reiterated that the Bolivarian Government maintains a reconstruction plan, based on national engineering and the mobilization of its own resources, in order to guarantee decent and safe housing for all affected citizens.
