The president of the National Assembly (AN) , Jorge Rodríguez, during the inauguration of the 20th International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN), Miranda chapter, highlighted the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías in establishing the seed of reading and revolutionary ideas in Venezuela.

During his participation in the opening ceremony, he proposed the idea of distributing books at Metro stations so that anyone can pick them up and read them.

“How about we do a Metro book fair and have them taken for weeks for people who come and go. This is so that the people can immerse themselves in the fantasy and the afterlife provided by narrative, essay and poetry,” he said.

He stated that “this type of activity nourishes our souls and remains in the hearts of free men and women”.

He also highlighted the importance of FILVEN as an initiative of Commander Chávez, who at all times, “armed us with the infinite freedom provided by books and reading, a freedom of conscience, reasoning, sovereignty and independence.”

“This is an armed revolution of ideas, literature, freedom, spirit and full life. It's the 20th edition of our FILVEN. In revolution in the gut, they introduce a novel and wonderful proposal, because the fair was born in the bowels of the Petare Metro station,” he emphasized.

Rodríguez also recalled that the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution always encouraged reading and his messages were based on ideologies, passages and paragraphs of literary works, of great revolutionary significance; a legacy that has been strengthened by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

For his part, the head of Plan Antonio José de Sucre, Pedro Infante, stressed that the literary event, in addition to bringing culture and reading, seeks to show “the good and beauty of Petare”.

Infante referred to the idea of dissolving “the negative stigma that he wanted to position himself about Petare and this Sucre municipality; we want people to know how good this wonderful town has”.

He also pointed out the coordination effort between national and regional cultural authorities to specify the FILVEN program, since for the first time, this type of event is taking place in the spaces of the Petare station of the Caracas Metro.

“It is an honor for Petare to host this event of culture, knowledge and reading. We proposed how to bring FILVEN closer to the town, with the idea of starting at the Metro station, where our town that goes out to study and work every day passes by the fair. Let every stand, publisher, book feel like a temptation for good,” he said.

The event will take place from Friday, March 14 to Sunday, March 16, in the Petare Metro and in Plaza Bolívar in this parish, and it is expected that some 43 exhibitors will be present and will become a space for meeting between words and culture, with activities for the whole family.
