The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, reiterated this Thursday that the presidential elections will be held when the National Electoral Council (CNE) so decides, once the document containing the proposals collected during the days of national dialogue with all the political and social sectors of the country has been delivered.

“The National Electoral Council, which is the only entity in this country that is constitutionally capable of making elections,” Rodríguez said during his participation in the massive march commemorating the 20th anniversary of Commander Hugo Chávez's speech from the Botanical Garden.

He pointed out that the “castes of surnames are enemies of democracy, they don't like true democracy, they don't like the fact that the vote of every woman in the town, that the vote of every man in the town is worth what any vote in the entire national territory is worth.”

In this regard, the head of Parliament recalled that the opposition had predicted that elections would not be called. “Well, go buy espadrilles because what is coming is presidential on the day and at the time that the National Electoral Council convenes,” he reiterated.

Finally, Rodríguez stated that in Venezuela “there are different sectors of politics that are national, that we are patriots and we are all going under the protection of that agreement to conclude and complete the most brilliant electoral process in recent years and we will elect a Chavista, a revolutionary president.”
