“More than 11,000 people with alternative measures to deprivation of liberty are being treated by the Special Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence,” said the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, through his Telegram channel.
Rodríguez stated that the Parliament is following up on cases related to this regulation, approved unanimously on February 19, 2026 and enacted by the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez.
Rodríguez stressed that the Special Commission will continue to evaluate the requests received and will act based on the principles of the law. “We will not give in to provocations; we will insist on the path of dialogue to achieve peace,” he said.
The Amnesty for Democratic Coexistence Act establishes mechanisms to grant general and full amnesty to acts within its time frame, in order to promote social peace, reconciliation and the use of democratic means to resolve conflicts.
