The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, warned that any citizen who steals, betrays or violates the high trust of the people of Venezuela must be immediately prosecuted by the authorities.
Rodríguez assured that no citizen who has served in the Venezuelan State enjoys impunity if the authorities prove that a crime has been committed. The parliamentarian referred directly to the case of businessman Alex Saab, who was recently deported to the United States, and ratified his Colombian nationality, clarifying that Venezuela cannot hinder or prevent such legal process.
In addition, the head of the Legislative Branch warned that in the coming days public opinion will know the details of whether this citizen violated institutional morals and ethics while holding public office in the country.
In this regard, he defended the institutional mission of managing the freedom of compatriots illegally detained abroad, recalling the historic rescue of 252 Venezuelans in El Salvador in July 2025 and the humanitarian exchange of prisoners executed on a Caribbean island in December 2023.
Finally, the parliamentarian emphasized that the justice system will act with severity in the face of any act of internal corruption, simultaneously with diplomatic efforts to protect violated compatriots outside borders. With these clarifications, the parliament reaffirmed its strong stance against impunity and its adherence to the corresponding international legal channels.
