The former correspondent of the Iranian channel Al Alam, Hossam Zidan, died as a result of an air attack carried out by Israeli Zionist forces in the city of Sidon, located in southern Lebanon. This tragic event has been formally confirmed by the media itself, which expressed its deep regret at the loss of its news representative in Syria.
The channel explained that the journalist's son is currently receiving critical medical care in an intensive care unit due to serious injuries sustained during the bombing.
The impact of this military action was not limited to the communicator's family, as local sources reported that at least six people lost their lives at the scene of the incident. Among the fatalities recorded at this specific point of the bombing are two minors, which increases the emotional impact and humanitarian concern in the face of the escalation of violence in the region. The Sidon environment has been the scene of a deployment of hostilities that has seriously affected the area's civilian infrastructure.
The magnitude of the military operations on Wednesday was reported by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, which officially recorded 56 deaths. In addition, the health authorities have confirmed that the number of injured amounts to 103 people, who receive care in different hospitals in the territory. These data highlight the growing precariousness of the humanitarian situation in southern Lebanon, where the intensity of attacks constantly complicates rescue efforts.
The death of Zidan has generated a strong reaction in international news circles, rekindling the debate about the extreme risks faced by communication workers in areas of active conflict.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese authorities continue to gather comprehensive information on the full extent of the damage recorded in the past few hours. The local government maintains the coordination of international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from this new phase in the intensification of hostilities.
Faced with this scenario of increasing instability, international organizations have made an urgent call to safeguard the integrity of the civilian population and of the press personnel who cover the events.
The situation in southern Lebanon remains under constant monitoring, while emergency teams work in areas affected by the bombings. The global community notes with concern the increase in casualties and the deterioration of security conditions in this critical area of the Middle East.
